VBS Worker Thank You
A great big "thank you" is extended to all the ranch hands at Saddle Ridge Ranch during this year's VBS. God moved in a mighty way among the guests at the ranch and Church vans had to run double routes on several days. The total enrollment was 299 with 30 professions of faith. Teachers, secretaries, cooks, recreation leaders, and many others shared their time and talents in this wonderful outreach effort. God is so good!
THANK YOU!

The beautiful wind-swept oak trees are a striking and distinctive
feature of the Aransas County landscape. Just as the wind and the salt
air shapes the oaks, we believe that the powerful presence of God is
shaping us with the love of Jesus Christ!

Our Mission
The mission of FBC Rockport is to lead all people to be shaped by the love of Christ.

Our Core Values

We believe His love is shaping us through the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:10-11 "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

We believe His love is shaping us through the authority of Holy Scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

2 Samuel 22:31 "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless."

Jeremiah 23:29 "Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?"

Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom."

James 1:22 "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."

We believe His love is shaping us through a commitment to prayer.

Ephesians 6: 18 "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."

Matthew 21:22, "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Acts 4:31 "After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly."

We believe His love is shaping us through times of corporate worship.

John 4:23-24 "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

Romans 12:1 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship."

Psalm 24:3-6 "Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob."

We believe His love is shaping us as we proclaim the gospel and call for a response.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Luke 5:4, When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch."

Matthew 4:19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

We believe His love is shaping us through the spiritual growth of our members.

Matthew 28:19-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

Romans 12:2 "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 "These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

We believe His love is shaping us through a Christ-like love permeating every aspect of church life.

John 13:34-53 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

John 17:22-23 "I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."

Ephesians 4:2-3 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Matthew 25:35-36, For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

How will we know when we have led all people to be shaped by the love of Christ? When we live out our core values!

Lordship of Christ
We will know that we have been shaped by the Lordship of Jesus Christ when, as a church, we wait in humble submission to our King each day. We will yield our bodies, our minds, our spirits, our families and friends, and our possessions and treasures to Christ to use as it pleases him. We offer all that we are for all the He is. Our decisions and actions as a church will be a reflection of sacrificial love for our Lord Jesus Christ and obedience to the will of God.

Authority of Scripture
We will know that we have been shaped by the authority of scripture when we yield ourselves first to hear the Word, second to receive the Word, and third to obey the Word. We look to the Spirit who inspired the Scriptures to interpret and apply them to our condition. Our members will see God's word as the accurate source of God's authority, as timeless and timely, and as relevant to the common needs of all people at all times and to specific problems of contemporary living. We will set aside time each day to meditate on God's word
and allow it to saturate and form our lives. We will submit ourselves to the searching power of God's word, allowing the Spirit to use the word to make us more like Christ. We will be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Through the preaching and teaching of God's word, we will equip Christians to follow Christ in every sphere of life. We dream of a church communicating the message of Christ. We hear believers sharing their faith. We see new believers being baptized as a testimony to lives changed by God's grace and in obedience to the Word of God.

Commitment to Prayer
We will know we have been shaped by our commitment to prayer when we are driven to our knees by the power of the Holy Spirit, surrendering our will totally to that of the Father's, approaching the throne of grace with confidence, receiving mercy and finding grace to help in times of need. The love of God will be poured out on the congregation as we pray together for our leaders, for the ministries of the church, for the needs of our members and community, and for the power to be the body of Christ. Our prayers, consisting of intercession,
submission, relinquishment, praise and adoration, and desperation for God to reveal Himself and His purposes, will rise up to heaven like sweet incense. The presence of God will unite us together, melt away our pride, increase our love for one another, refresh our lives and empower our service.

Corporate Worship
We will know we have been shaped through our commitment to corporate worship when, through various styles and diverse groups meeting at various locations, our members will worship God. Worship will be accessible to anyone who will come. God will make His presence known to us, and our lives will change due to an encounter with the living God. Through His Spirit and through His Word, God ministers to us, we minister to one
another, and our hearts are united in responding to God. We will involve people in the planning and leading of various worship experiences. We will provide times of worship that will be sincere, creative, appropriate, and Christ-centered.

Proclaim the Gospel and Call for a Response
We will know that we have been shaped by proclaiming the gospel message and calling for a response when our members are praising God by their changed lives, sharing the reason for their joy. Our families will bow together in prayer and Bible Study across Aransas County. People will find genuine fellowship in our church regardless of race or socio-economic status. We will be intentional in casting our nets into the community with the gospel message and asking people to come and know the Lord. We will take responsibility for new believers
and mentor them as they learn to live the life of a disciple. Our members will be in the homes of new believers, teaching the wonders of life in Christ and inviting others to know him. We will see a new congregation forming in a once difficult area. God will call out and we will send many members to share the gospel message and meet needs in love locally, across the United States, and around the world, with a generous church supporting them.

Spiritual Growth of Our Members
We will know we have been shaped through the spiritual growth of our members when all our members, from youngest to oldest, strive for Christ-likeness and spiritual maturity, and spiritual complacency would be unacceptable. Christians, hungry for teaching and training, will come to develop and exercise their spiritual gifts and develop the disciplines of a disciple of Jesus Christ. As we grow together we will attain the fullness of Christ in our midst.

Christ-like Love Permeating Every Aspect of Church Life
We will know that we have been shaped by a Christ-like love permeating every aspect of church life when our members abide in faith, hope, and love, knowing that love is the most excellent way. We will see the love of Christ shaping us into His likeness, becoming the light in a dark world. We will hear His children speaking the Word of God as He writes it in their hearts. We will sense the urgency of the times moving us to share the love of Christ to all people. We will feel the touch of the Spirit coursing through the body, fulfilling the needs of our
community as we respond to His call with Christ-like love in service and ministry. We taste the sweet joy of salvation as a new child comes to Christ. We will conduct business meetings, serve on committees, and administrate staff and church life so that God is glorified, His generosity is evident to the world, and the body of Christ is built up. We will give a tithe of our first-fruits to God, and give sacrificially beyond our tithe to special offerings and needs. We will demonstrate the presence of the Spirit through our unity, our passionate, unwavering commitment to God's kingdom and to one another, and through our willingness to lay down our rights for the sake of others in our church.

Our strategy for making disciples of Jesus Christ comes from the Great Commission,
the Great Commandment, and from our Core Values. At FBC Rockport we believe a
disciple is someone who is shaped by the love of Christ

To WORSHIP the Lord with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength

To CONNECT with other believers

To GROW in Christ-likeness

To SERVE God and others

To REACH out to a lost world with the love of Christ

We commit to align all we do as a church with our Core Values and our Discipleship Strategy so that all people will be shaped by the love of Jesus Christ.
